Rockies end losing streak, win 7-2 against Dodgers

There we go, Rockies win! Aaron Cook was pitching great today!

How about our new second baseman Jonathan Herrera? I think he will be a good fit for the Rockies, I see a lot of potential in this infielder, offense and defense.

Oh ya and also tomorrow (Monday May 5th) you can goto Taco Bell between 4-6pm to get 4 tacos for $1.

Rocky slump for Rockies as they are in last place....fan quote makes you realize something

Rockies are in last place, what a bummer for Colorado Rockies fans. However, when I was reading some comments on this video I made on youtube, were a fan said something that was very interesting:

"today is May 3rd. the Rockies are in last place with a record of 11-19. one year ago today they were in last place with a record of 11-17. NO WORRIES. GO ROCKIES!!!!!!!!!!"

Keep your heads up Rockies, the real fans are still rooting for you. Get focused and go out there and play hard and things will turn around.

Ryan Spilborghs the worst dresser, Barry Bonds situation, this week on Rockies All Access

Rockies All Access for Thurs., May 1 at 7:00 p.m. MT

Replays scheduled for Thurs., May 1 at 10:00 p.m., Fri., May 2 at 2:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., Sat., May 3 at 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and Sun., May 4 at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

This week on TOYOTA ROCKIES ALL ACCESS, hosts Oren Lomena and Alanna Rizzo are in San Francisco where the Rockies are taking on the Giants.

While there, the duo check out the Marin Headlands, take a trolley ride around the city, hang around Fisherman’s Wharf and wander Union Square.

With representatives of former San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds claiming there is a period of owner collusion in baseball keeping teams from signing Bonds, Lomena plays a game called “Collusion or Kahlua.” Lomena asks Giants fans whether they believe in the collusion statement or if Bonds’ reps are drinking too much Kahlua. Surprisingly, many fans go with the Kahlua answer.

Rockies outfielder Ryan Spilborghs attempts to have a nice, peaceful conversation with catcher Yorvit Torrealba while getting a tour of the city; however, the conversation quickly turns into Torrealba making fun of the way Spilborghs dresses. As a result, Torrealba takes Spilborghs and pitcher Josh Newman to Nordstrom’s to buy new suits.

ROCKIES ALL ACCESS also takes a look back at the past year of Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki – from fighting to make the lineup at the beginning of 2007 to his recent injury.

Rockies lose Jayson Nix

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies announced prior to tonight's game that the club has designated infielder Jayson Nix for assignment. To take his place on the roster, the club has purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Jose Capellan from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Capellan (No. 41) will be in uniform for tonight's game against Los Angeles.

Nix batted .111 (5-for-45) with one double and 2 RBIs in 16 games/12 starts for Colorado this season. He recorded his first Major League hit in his second career game on April 2 at St. Louis. Nix, who started at second base last night for just the second time in Colorado's last 10 games, was hitless in his last 19 at-bats since a double in the second inning on April 13 at Arizona. In 12 starts at second base this season, Nix was perfect in 70 total chances. The Rockies have 10 days to trade, release or outright Nix to the Minor Leagues.

Capellan, 27, will be seeking his first Major League action of 2008. He has spent the entire season with the Sky Sox, going 2-0 with a 3.94 ERA (16.0 IP, 7 ER) in 3 games/starts in the Pacific Coast League. He has held opponents at a .203 (12-for-59) average against while recording 11 strikeouts against 5 walks. Capellan last pitched on Saturday, April 19, earning the victory after tossing 5 innings while allowing 3 runs on 4 hits in the Sky Sox's 12-3 win at Tacoma.

Capellan has just a little over a year of Major League experience, combining to go 5-7 with a 4.90 ERA (121.1 IP, 66 ER) in 98 games/2 starts in his big league career with Atlanta (2004) and Milwaukee (2005-07).

With these moves, the Rockies now have 38 players on the club's 40-man roster.

Tulowitzki Injured, strained quad and Baker injured, popped blood vessel

SAN FRANCISCO -- Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki limped off the field in the bottom of the first inning of Tuesday night's game with the Giants, leaving the Rockies having to piece together an infield with catcher Chris Iannetta playing third base.

Tulowitzki was first injured when he fielded Eugenio Velez's bouncer and threw to first, where Todd Helton let the ball pop out of his glove for an error. Tulowitzki appeared to be favoring his left leg, but he stayed in the game.

Three batters later, however, Tulowitzki pulled up while going for Aaron Rowan's bouncer and let the ball go into the outfield for an RBI single that gave the Giants a 2-1 lead. Tulowitzki left the game with a strained left quad (he's listed as day-to-day), and the Rockies scrambled.

Tulowitzki entered Tuesday in a slump that left his average at .152 and wasn't supposed to start the game.

The only other infielder on the roster, Jeff Baker, was going to play second base and Clint Barmes was supposed to start at shortstop. However, Baker suffered a broken blood vessel in his right middle finger during pregame activities and was scratched minutes before the first pitch, forcing Barmes to move to second and Tulowitzki to start at short.

After the injury, Iannetta came in at third for the first time in his career in the Majors or Minors. Barmes moved to short and third baseman Garrett Atkins played second, also for the first time in his career.

Iannetta celebrated his new position by leading off the top of the second inning with a home run to center field off Giants starting pitcher Tim Lincecum to tie the game.
